    Story

Please help raise funds for Hope K's primary schooling in Uganda and for her brother Oloya A who wants to train in public health.

Hope is in her penultimate year of primary education. She has missed out on a year's teaching because of the pandemic. As well as Hope's school fees of around £130, the family needs college fees for 18-year old Oloya's Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Public Health, and funds for his compulsory equipment (including a theatre gown and cap). His course is based in Gulu in Northern Uganda and will last for 3 years, starting in February 2022. He hopes to raise approximately £1200 a year.

Oloya and Hope's dad was killed during the northern Uganda conflict. Their mum runs a very small shop which has struggled to make a profit especially during Covid lockdowns. The family's effort to grow vegetables to raise money has been badly affected by heavy rains in the last year. Without some extra input Oloya won't be able to study.

The conflict is now ended, but having grown up with it, this family is trying to make a more hopeful future for themselves.

Thank you very much for any support you can offer.

Another way to support the family is to purchase paintings and cards made by Joanna during a visit to Uganda. Please see her website if you are interested in this (all proceeds will go to the Oloya&Hope fund).

Thanks so much everyone for support so far - and those who have bought pictures and postcards via my website too. These funds are going to make a really important difference - not least in helping this small family feel that people are caring about them - thank you!
