I've raised £5000 to Prevent infectious diseases caused by lack of toilets and protect children going outside for toilets and get harmed.

I have recently visited Eastern -Ethiopia where my family have originally came from. The aim of my initial visit was to see my elderly dad who is in poor health. However, there was something else that came into my mind, something which is very disturbing. It’s not the poverty, the hunger, the droughts or lack of proper governing, law and order but very basic thing which every normal human-being feel sad if they see it, ‘the impact of lack of basic toilets, sanitation and hygiene on young children. We all have children or relative children but imagine if your child leave the house to hide behind the trees or rocks to just urinate or defecate.
Basic toilets and place to wash their hands is what Garoon school children need. When they need toilet, they go out from the class to the Jungle where they have to face dangers of rape and Humiliation. The number of men targeting children when they go out from the village for toileting is gone up and worrying.
Lack of sanitation and hygiene in the village is causing Cholera outbreak every few months and children and elderly people are most likely to suffer more than others.
I need to raise money for Garoon primary school which 120 children go to study. I want do this because I care about this children and people from this area. This is where my family origins are and if I do not start campaigning for them to have better life who else will do it. Believe me its heart breaking if you see the conditions people live with in this village and children face extra dangers for their health and safety welfare.
So far I have raised more than half of the fund needed through community fundraising and we would like to get a total of £20,000 to build one toilet for girls and one for boys with sink for handwashing and water tank each. I was also promised by local charity to provide machines and heavy duty equipment for digging and lifting. The money we raise will be spent on buying building materials, including pipes blocks, plasters, water tanks, roofing and staff expenses.
As corruption and mismanagement is high in the area, I decided to run or at least closely monitor this little project which will take up to 8-10 weeks.
We have a chance to stop young girls to be raped and prevent their death caused by diarrehoea and choleras
