We are One Planet Wincanton - set up by people from the town and surrounding area. Why the name? If everyone in the world lived the way we do we'd need three Planet Earths to support us but we only have one! We're working to support nature, reduce our carbon output and to find a way of life that treads more lightly on the planet.

We've already planted wild flowers in Cash's Park, new trees to replace ones that were ailing in the Copse above, installed an owl box, bat boxes and bird boxes there, set up medicine blister pack recycling drop off points in the Library and Whole food shop, and have a flourishing Repair Cafe once a month in the Quaker Barn.

We're now planning to create an interactive online map of Wincanton for everyone to record their wildlife sightings on. This will help to build up a picture of the wildlife we have in Wincanton, monitor its increase or decline, and see where we can help eg by improving hedgehog highways. There will also be a printed version of the initial map available. Any contribution you can make, large or small, will help to fund this.
