Story

I'm raising £1,000 for Durham and Sunderland One Act Festival.

The Story

Since 2018, the Durham and Sunderland One Act Festival has been a brilliant opportunity for amateur theatre in the North East. This festival provides a non-profit platform for talented local amateur drama groups to showcase their work, gain experience, and celebrate the power of live performance.

It's more than just a festival—it's a community gathering, a crucible for new ideas, and a launching pad for future theatre stars. We bring local talent together and provide an exciting theatrical experience for our audiences.

Invest in Local Talent: Why We Need Your Support

While the festival runs entirely on the passion and dedication of our volunteer teams, the foundational costs of running an arts festival are significant. As a non-profit community effort, covering essential annual expenses like venue hire and official fees can be a challenge.

Our goal this year is simple but: We aim to cover all our operational costs to ensure the festival's financial stability and guarantee we can continue this tradition for the local arts community, year after year..

Our Role in the Wider Arts Scene

The Durham and Sunderland One Act Festival is proud to be affiliated with the ALL ENGLAND THEATRE FESTIVAL (AETF). This means the groups performing not only gain valuable local recognition but also compete for awards and the opportunity to progress to regional and national rounds of the prestigious AETF competition. We offer a supportive environment that encourages our local performers and technical teams to achieve excellence.

Supporting us means supporting the continued growth and high standards of amateur drama across Durham, Sunderland and the wider area.
