Story

Having seen the homeless man outside Sainsbury's on Newcastle Avenue I knew I wanted to try and help but didn't quite know how.

On Sunday 4th July 2021 I saw a post on a Facebook page which highlighted that I wasn't alone in wanting to try and help. With over 117 comments, 40 reactions and 6 shares I knew the local People also wanted to try and help.

There was not one negative comment about this gentleman, nothing but warmth, a willingness to help and mentions of how polite he was. It was apparent his dog was his life and that he was struggling for anywhere to live because of his dedication to his little four legged friend.

I'm a dog trainer based in Gateford and have worked in Animal Welfare for over 10 years. I've seen people have to give up their beloved pets time and time again because their accommodation wouldn't allow pets. I am opening a dog day care facility in Victoria Square and plan to offer him a job, if he'll accept.

The plan now is to raise as much money as possible to het him and his little dog into accommodation. Get them warm, dry, safe and well.

His story will be updated once we learn all about it.
