Sponsor a ribbon

All the ribbons that were tied to our railings are going to become an amazing art installation

“ON THE WINGS OF A PRAYER”

It will be mounted on the outside wall of the church for the community. We need your help to make this happen. Please make a donation however large or small we thank you. This isn’t an ego trip by the church. It’s a way to recognise the prayers and hopes offered, lives lost, self sacrifice and heroism of key workers, community spirit seen, love of life, gratitude for the NHS, being part of the great family of Court Hey. Which all of these ribbons represents. Make yourself proud by being part of this and making a donation.

Prayer ribbon story

The story of the prayer ribbons came about during the first period of lockdown last year. Court Hey Methodist Church prides itself on being an outward looking and community based church, but during lockdown we were reluctantly forced to suspend Sunday worship and many activities that normally would have happened each week.

As our doors were locked the Leadership felt we needed a visible presence to show we were still here to support and help the community, if this could be done in an interactive way so much the better.

The idea of tying prayer ribbons to our railings was born. A box with ribbons and a sign was put up explaining the idea of tying a ribbon on and offering a prayer, or just taking a moment of reflection, to give thanks or in remembrance, whether you have a faith or not. It was completely open to everyone. It soon became apparent there was a need in the community to express their feelings in a physical gesture of tying ribbons.

We as a church were completely amazed at the response with over 2,000 ribbons placed. To all who have tied prayer ribbons on our railings - thank you!
