Story

As the parent of 4 beautiful and bonkers children I wanted to find a way to say thank you, for the outstanding work they do at Whiteswood Academy. They have all had the joy of attending, but for my youngest child it really was his last chance in a mainstream setting, the staff did what they do best, they wrapped him in love and patience. They wanted to see him succeed and the transformation has been miraculous they gave us all hope for his future. So, Stu and I decided the best way to give back, would be to wedge ourselves in lycra, borrow a tandem and cycle coast to coast, in the hope that people might want to help give disadvantaged children the chance to do their cycling test. Purchasing the bikes will allow hundreds of children the opportunity to ride with confidence and most importantly with safety. We really hope everyone gets behind us.

A word from the head:

So many children in our community do not get the opportunity to learn to ride a bike safely. We would love to put that right by accessing in-school training from a cycling proficiency scheme operating in Lincolnshire. At White’s Wood Academy and Tall Oaks Academy Trust, we feel that cycling is a vital life-skill which can develop physical fitness and emotional well-being, as well as support people with a sustainable, cheap and active form of transport.
Two fantastic supporters of our school are planning to put their bodies on the line to help with our efforts by cycling (on a tandem bike, no less!) across our beautiful country (including over the Pennines!) from the west coast to the east.
We would love as many people as possible to donate what they can to our fundraiser, in order to sponsor a super cause and help to improve the health of the children of Gainsborough. We will use the funds raised to buy bikes to enable those who don’t have access to one at home to take part in this training.
We would hugely appreciate any help you can give!
Many thanks everyone.
