Story
Adam and Estie are running the Cambridge Half Marathon on March 6th 2022 to raise money for the Open Table Network – a UK registered charity and a growing partnership of Christian communities that welcome and affirm people who are LGBTQIA+.
Adam and Estie each identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and have been involved with the Open Table fellowship in Cambridge, UK. Each have their reasons for wanting to give back to Open Table:
Open Table has provided a space where it's possible to be both authentically queer and Christian, helping to put back together the often fractured sense of self that many LGBTQIA+ Christians experience. I believe Open Table sets the tone for the sort of affirmation of LGBTQIA+ people that should be found throughout the Christian church and wider society. It's great to be able to support Open Table by running the Cambridge Half Marathon in their name – Adam.
I am running the Cambridge Half Marathon to raise awareness of the importance of Open Table within the church. It provides an inclusive safe community where LGBTQIA+ Christians can get together, feel totally accepted and worship God in joyous spiritual communion in church – Estie.
Thank you for your support!
