    Story

Mother and Baby Units provide treatment and support to women experiencing severe mental health difficulties during the last trimester of pregnancy and up to one year post birth. These units are unique as they allow mother and baby to stay together.

The money raised will help Open House continue to provide therapeutic activities for the mums on the Dr Margaret Oates Mother and Baby Unit at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The activities include art and craft sessions with qualified facilitators and beauty therapy treatments provided by qualified therapists.

Having funded these sessions for a number of months we know that the mums on the ward appreciate them greatly.

Often the mums who are patients on the unit are miles away from home and with the average stay being six weeks these activities can provide much needed distraction during what for some can be a highly traumatic period of their lives.

"Open House is a charity which funds a number of therapeutic activities for the mums on the Mother and Baby Unit in Nottingham. These sessions are welcomed by the mums and provide an invaluable space which the mums both enjoy and which aids recovery. All sessions are thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward too and make a real difference to the mothers experience" Debbie Sells - Ward Manager

Please support Open House and the work of the MBU in Nottingham.

    With love and thanks

At the depths of my despair Open House were the only ones who were able to help me see the light at the end of the tunnel. For that I will always be grateful.
