Story

Please support Dan, Marek, David & Alex in taking humanitarian aid to the Ukraine Border - we leave for Poland on June 9th and every donation will go directly to people who desperately need help.
The tragedy of Ukraine continues. Within the country itself, over 8 million people are now displaced. These are the most vulnerable: the sick and disabled, the elderly, children, babies, and of course, people surviving in bombed-out houses, some wounded by war. They need help and we wanted to do something. But what? Everything we came up with felt like a drop in the ocean. And then we remembered the story of the boy and a starfish.
One day, after a big storm, hundreds of thousands of starfish were washed up and stranded on a beach. A young boy happened to be walking along the shore. Now and then, he’d bend over, pick up a starfish and throw it into the ocean, back to safety. A man, coming the other way, watched the boy doing this and told him it was a complete waste of time because it would make no difference. At this, the boy picked up a starfish and threw it into the sea then, smiling at the man, simply said “Made a difference to that one."

Inspired by this, we figured whatever help we could offer would make a difference. And we came up with a plan that seemed most efficient. Fly to Eastern Poland, hire a van, buy the humanitarian aid that is needed and then drive it to our trusted contacts at the border. They will then take the aid on to the desperate people inside Ukraine. And the plan is to do as many van loads as our resources will allow.

We're a small team of four: Marek Kowalski & Dan Marshall, who have already delivered help to the Ukraine border and father and son David and Alex Peet. Marek is based in Poland and has helped find contacts in Ukraine to take the supplies into Lviv. Dan has already spent a week in Przemysl as a volunteer helping Ukrainian refugees. And David and Alex have pulled the project together.

We want to make sure your donation makes a difference. So, we are covering our own travel and overnight costs in order to guarantee that every penny you are generous enough to donate will go exclusively on vital humanitarian aid, the van hire and the fuel to go back and forth locally.

And that’s it: the van is hired…the trusted contacts made… we fly out on the 9th June. Your support is greatly appreciated.
