As Donna recovers our work with St Richard's continues - August 2020

Donna and I are continuing to work with St Richard’s hospital and have created a support network for the patients, friends and family of the ITU.

Our aim is to expand this across the country offering professional counselling, practical and emotional support, as well as legal and financial advice.

Please continue to support this cause by donating here. Thank you again for all your support to date.

Donna is back on the sofa

After 92 days in hospital and 31 days convalescing Gin & Tonic have finally got Donna "Back On The Sofa". A huge THANK YOU to the team at St Richards Hospital and to everyone who has supported the Come On Donna campaign. Thank You

STOP PRESS: Donna left hospital on 18th June - her birthday!

After 13 weeks in St Richard's Hospital Chichester where Donna has been fighting Covid-19, she was able to go home. Read all about it and see the pictures in the Chichester Observer. Thank you all so much for your continued and amazing support.

Our fundraising continues with our overall total now in excess of £110K, £200K is in our sights...

The teams in the Intensive Care Unit and the High Dependency Unit at St Richard's Hospital, where Donna was in a critical condition for many weeks, were amazing at doing everything they could to get Donna better. In return I decided to try to make their lives as easy as possible and to help them help others in my situation.

Our latest fundraiser

The two Marks recently completed the #comeonDonna South Downs Challenge a 160km bike ride from Winchester to Eastbourne overnight. Please take a look at the video of their epic South Downs Challenge and then join in the amazing opportunity to win some of the fantastic gear they used.

Thanks to the generosity of Vaaru Cycles, Exposure Lights, Lezyne distributed by Upgrade Bikes, there are 2 sets of gear available to win (most of which was used once on the actual ride), plus new water bottles and a set of EXPSWITCH2TRACERDB lights. Once you have paid your £30 you are in the draw! Good luck and thank you for supporting the cause.

The whole story...

At the start I raised in excess of £30000. This included coffee machines donated by De'Longhi, 1000s of hand sanitisers donated by Zidac and lots of products donated by local companies to put into Goodie Bags for the staff at St Richard's including boxes of tea, deodorant, linen bags to take their scrubs home to wash, hand sanitisers, hand creams.... the list goes on.

The project snowballed and as well as making distributions to St Richard's I've also made donations to a number of hospices, care homes, ambulance stations, GP surgeries & schools. See the updates below for details.

The hospital then asked me to help develop an holistic service to support Covid-19 staff, patients and their families. Currently there is no formal support to help guide all those involved through the emotional, practical and financial stresses and strains associated with this illness.

To this end, the #comeonDonna Campaign is now focused on raising money for such a service at St Richard's Hospital ITU. With a view to this holistic service being expanded to all ITUs across the country to support health professionals, patients and their families fighting and recovering from Covid-19.

There are 286 ITUs in the country and at one point 245 of these had more than one patient with Covid-19 and there were 2403 people in the same situation as Donna.

If that affects 10 people in each family, that's 24,000. Plus if there's 100 doctors and nurses in each ITU that's 28,000, so in total more than 50,000 people are impacted directly.

Hence why we are trying to raise £200,000 to help. Please donate now.

Friends and Family have helped me at the start and then I put it out to the greater community to see how much we could raise for this amazing hospital, its extraordinary staff and my wonderful wife.

There are many ways you can get involved. The easiest and quickest way is by donating here. You can hold your own fund raising event or offer your services. Please see our dedicated website ComeOnDonna for more details

Help me, to help the hospital which helped my wife and all the other hospitals who helped so many others.

Thank you
