Operation Santa sprung into existence in 2020 as a small community group with the aim of delivering hope to families and individuals in South Birmingham. Our aim is to provide personalised and thoughtful Christmas gifts and goodies to children who are known to established organisations and have long relationships in view of supporting them through crisis or long-term challenges. Operation Santa also provide volunteer opportunities for those that want to be involved, and actively recruit ‘volunteer elves’ to fundraise, purchase and wrap gifts as well as helping out at events.

Operation Santa’s focus is South Birmingham including, but not limited to; Druids Heath, Billesley, Warstock, Allens Croft, Maypole. We support children 0-18 years old, single parents and families in need. By working with established charitable organisations and community groups, we gain specific details about those we want to help; families are directly asked what they want to receive and, in the case of single parent families - what the children would like to give their parent.

As well as personalised presents, where possible we also provide selection packs, family hampers and other smaller gifts, so the whole family have something to share and enjoy over the festive period. These families and individuals are living in or receiving support from an organisation based in South Birmingham. The vast majority of families and children supported live in rented accommodation, come from a low-income household and are in receipt of some form of government benefit.

We hope our contributions and interventions via the established organisations brings joy to the children and families, relieves some pressure in relation to buying presents at Christmas, and creates happy childhood memories for the children involved.
