Story
Orwell Panthers Athletics Club, a registered charitable organisation supporting children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities through inclusive athletics.
In August 2026, approximately 10 of our athletes will proudly represent Suffolk at the Special Olympics National Games in Birmingham. This prestigious five-day national event brings together athletes from across the country to compete at the highest level of inclusive sport. For many of our athletes, this will be the most significant competition of their sporting journey.
The National Games are about far more than medals. They provide an opportunity to build confidence, independence and lifelong friendships, while showcasing the dedication and hard work our athletes demonstrate every week in training.
The cost of attending this five-day event is approximately £1,000 per athlete, which covers:
Travel to Birmingham
Accommodation for the duration of the Games
Competition entry fees
Team kit and equipment
Coaching and preparation
In addition we need to take coaches and volunteers to our event to support the athletes to be the best they can be.
As a volunteer-led charity, we rely heavily on fundraising and the generosity of local businesses and supporters to make opportunities like this possible.
We are therefore kindly asking you to consider making a donation to help our athletes compete at this important national event. Any contribution, large or small, will make a meaningful difference and help ensure our athletes can step onto the national stage with pride.
