Story

I have been fortunate enough to have received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to earn a place on the 2019 World Challenge expedition team.

My fellow challengers and I will be embarking on an expedition to Ladakh, North West India where we will conduct community based voluntary work in local, less fortunate villages. This will include sanitary improvements, building and maintenance work of educational sites and schools as well as painting and fixing community buildings. All with plenty of opportunity for interaction with local villagers and children.

We will trek through the high altitudes of the remote and spectacular Himalayas which will incorporate visits to places of local cultural importance, as well as numerous temples and monasteries. Ladakh offers some the most spectacular and isolated trekking in India, allowing breathtaking views of pristine lakes, nomadic settlements and snow-capped peaks rising high above the clouds.

There will also be the opportunity for me to explore the sights, sounds and smells of India and gain cultural understanding. I can’t wait to see the battle-scarred forts, vibrant silks, and traditional way of life which is full of charm, intrigue and majesty.

To take part in this amazing challenge I need to raise a minimum of £3995 – a challenge in itself, I am sure you will agree.

I have now started to actively fundraise towards my trip and would appreciate any help given through my dedicated cause page. Thank you in advance for any help given, it is greatly appreciated.
