Story

Our Oscar went missing on the night of Friday 29th June. He is always back in a couple of hours as he likes his food too much. The hours then turned into a day and it was time for Facebook and posters. We had over 100 posters made up and during the week that then passed most of Norwich has one. We couldn't understand why no one called with a sighting and he is microchipped.
All week we had left the back door open, day and night and 7.30a.m. on Sunday 8th July he wanders in meows us awake!
He was very hungry, very thirsty but also not using his front left leg. We agreed we would let him relax and sleep and as he usually drinks out of a tap I lifted him up so he could and set my alarm throughout the night to hydrate him more.
At the vets the next day we found out that he had been hit by a car. He is lucky as he has no internal bleeding and his spine was ok. They found a hole in his side they stitched up but the problem is his front left leg. It is broken up the top in pieces and there is a big clean break further down with the nerve in the middle. If it had hit the nerve the leg would be paralyzed. It is so bad there is no room for the normal plate and pin they would do.
What the surgeon would like to do is see if she can insert a temporary pin and wire. If that is not possible then it would be an amputation. An amputation is £800 and the first surgery is between £1200 and £1500. All this on top of the £436.31 to date.
All we want to do is our best by our Oscar and hope that you can help a little.
He is at Chapelfields vets in Norwich.
