Story
The OTA Disability Centre provides support and education to children and young adults living with a disability in Tonga. The centre is in a dire state with no furniture, educational aids, safe play area or mobility equipment.
We are fundraising for 'The 4 Islands Challenge' which will involve Frazer walking solo around the four main islands in Tonga - in excess of 1000km - during the height of summer (January 2018).
Please help us raise funds to provide basic items for the 'Ofa Tui 'Amanaki (Love, Faith & Hope) Disability Centre, so we can restore the faith and hope of the children and young adults who attend there, and improve their daily environment and their daily lives.
We are The Akanesi Mataitonga Trust - a registered charity which started in the UK and is now based in New Zealand.
Our work is driven by a passionate belief that all children and young people deserve to be raised and educated in a safe and equitable environment.
Our mission is to promote the social, emotional and educational development of children and young people, and to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people in school and the community. We raise money to rebuild and refurbish schools, fund up-to-date equipment and resources at school and in the community, and improve the quality of children and young people’s lives.
We develop partnerships with local individuals, communities and organizations to engage support and commitment among the people who live in project areas, and to embed sustainable solutions.
The Akanesi Mataitonga Trust provides essential financial and material assistance, principally through education and the local community. We reach out to vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people in developing countries and elsewhere as and when we identify those in need.
Our charitable trust exists in fond memory of Nesi - a loving & generous soul, who believed in providing a bright future for children (her own & others) and who devoted her life to serving communities in Tonga.
All funds raised will be paid into an Orewa Taxation Service Limited Trust account in the name of The Akanesi Mataitonga Trust. OTS Limited and The Akanesi Mataitonga Trust are proud supporters of the global Rotary Foundation.
