Out In The Open - Hadrian's Wall

* HADRIAN'S WALL: 85 miles, 4-5 days *

Anyone who knows me will know that I DO NOT get on very well with exercise, that’s a given. But having visited Hadrian’s Wall last month and recent family events, I’ve discussed the idea of creating an event in which I’m going to walk the whole of Hadrian’s Wall - side to side, 85miles.

The walking will be spread over a number of days, with a route set out for how many miles per day (this will be posted at a later date once I have chance to work out the mileage and stopping points).

AUGUST 12th - 17th.

This walk is in aid of Mental Health; raising awareness and donations. Mental Health is something that affects all of us in some way or another and is a cause close to my heart. Ideally, I'd like to raise money in order to donate to TWO charities - MIND and CALM.

MIND is the UK's leading Mental Health charity. "We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect."

CALM is a UK based charity, helping to prevent and support those with suicidal thoughts. "The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. In 2015, 75% of all UK suicides were male."

*DONATIONS TO CALM will be donated in memory of my dear cousin Paul Grayson who passed 21/05/18 and inspired me to set up this event.

"Whatever the weather, you'd always cheer us up." - From Pauls niece, Ellie.

This in itself is the reason I'd like to donate to TWO charities, being the reason why this is a Crowdfunding page, instead of a fundraiser. With Crowdfunding on JustGiving, money is sent direct to me at the end of the fundraising period (-5% of donations is used to cover FEE's) - I will be paying the fees myself and splitting the donations equally between the charities.
