    Story

This year in light of the recent news that a school girl in our local community needs treatment and support for a brain tumour, Wildern School have decided to raise money for this worthy cause as well as The Brain Tumour Charity through our annual Outrun Cancer Fun Run on Tuesday 25th June 2019. The money raised will be split 50/50 between the charity and Brooke's cause.

The race will take place at 3:15 on the Wildern School field. Each lap around the school is 1K so please sponsor us to spur our participants on to do as many as they can to reach our target and therefore support a family close to our community.

    Please read Brooke's story...

In April 2019, Brooke and her family received the devastating news that she has a tumour on her brain stem. Brooke has been receiving care at Southampton General Hospital and will shortly start a 6 week intensive course of treatment to shrink the tumour at University College London Hospital, in the hope that this will alleviate some of the symptoms that she has developed.

The care that they have received so far has been invaluable, however, in order to keep all options open, we need to expedite her treatment to ensure the best outcome for this young girl, whose diagnosis is rare. The next phase of treatment is yet to be determined but as you can imagine, they are looking into every possible treatment available, including pioneering research that may take them overseas or into the Private Medical sector.

The money raised for Brooke will be used to fund potential treatment, assist the family with living costs (the parents are self-employed) and ultimately by participating in this trial, Brooke is actually contributing to the fight to beat this for not only herself, but for other children in the future too.
