    Story

Blwyddyn diwethaf mi wnes benderfynu hel arian i'r Uned Gofal Arbennig i Fabanod yn Ysbyty Gwynedd ym Mangor. Dyma pam...

Pan gafod fy nith, Lwsi, ei geni fe fuodd yn sal iawn gyda sepsis. Diolch i'r staff gwych yn yr uned gofal arbennig yn Ysbyty Gwynedd, fe gafodd Lwsi ofal gwych ac ymhen ryw wythnos roedd hi'n well.

Roedd gweld Lwsi yn yr ysbyty yn gwneud i mi sylwi pa mor lwcus ydym ni i gael uned mor arbennig yn ein ardal leol. Nid yn unig y gwnaethon nhw edrych ar ôl Lwsi, ond fe edrychon nhw ar ôl fy chwaer (oedd hefyd a sepsis), ac hefyd cefnogi'r teulu cyfan yn ystod y cyfnod anodd yma.

Mae'r uned arbennig yn gwasanaethu ardal fawr iawn, o Sir Fon i Ben Llyn. Os na fyddai'r uned yma yn bodoli, fe fyddai rhaid i bobl deithio yn bell iawn i dderbyn gwasanaeth o'r fath. Mae'r uned wedi edrych ar ôl nifer o blant eraill rydym yn ei nabod hefyd, er enghraifft Eli, a gafodd ei geni yn gynnar.

Fe fydda i a fy chwaer (mam Lwsi) yn cymryd rhan mewn amryw digwyddiad er mwyn hel arian i ddangos ein gwerthfawrogiad. Bydd rhain yn cynnwys:

Slateman sprint Triathlon, Snowman sprint Triathlon, Sandman sprint Triathlon.

Fe fyddai hefyd yn neud y 'Big Bala 4.5k Swim' a nofio 8km yn llyn Conniston.

Mae fy chwaer a'i ffrind hefyd am drefnu taith gerdded yn Eryri ym mis Awst.

Fe fyddem yn gwerthfawrogi unrhyw gyfraniad.

    Diolch yn fawr

    Owain

I decided last year that I would raise money for the Speical care baby unit in Bangor, Ysbyty Gwynedd in North Wales. And this is why...

My niece Lwsi contracted sepsis at birth and became seriously ill. Only a few hours after being born, and luckily due to vigilant staff on the labour ward she was taken to the special care unit. She received fantastic care and recovered fully.

Seeing Lwsi during her time at the hospital, made me realise how lucky we are as a family to have such a vital unit on our doorstep. They not only made Lwsi better, they also looked after my sister, and her husband to get through such a difficult time. Lwsi is now one year old, and couldn't be healthier.

North west Wales is a very rural area, and Ysbyty Gwynedd is the hospital that covers individuals from Anglesey to the Llŷn Peninsula. If this unit was not so close, people would have to travel even further for treatment which could be detrimental to their or their children's health.

Lwsi is not the only baby the unit has looked after. My sister's friend and work colleague gave birth to Eli, a little girl who was premature. Eli was given great care at the unit, was a fighter and also got better. Again, the staff, doctors and nurses not only looked after Eli, but looked after her family as a whole.

We are raising money to show our gratitude to all the staff at the speical care baby unit, we will be forever grateful.

My sister (Lwsi's mother) and I will be doing the following events in the hope to raise money for such a good cause.

Slateman sprint Triathlon, Snowman sprint Triathlon, Sandman sprint Triathlon.

I will also be swimming the Big Bala 4.5k Swim and the Conniston 8k swim.

My sister and her friend will also be arranging a walk in Snowdonia in August of this year.

If you, or if you know someone that has had a similar experience and would also like to say thank you, we would be very grateful for any donations.

    Thank you for your time
