£840raised of £4,500 target by 27 supporters

Weʼre raising £4,500 to fund a 4-week expedition to Peru, involving community and ecological projects to aid local people; ending in a 5 day trek to Machu Picchu

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Hardenhuish School are organising a month-long volunteer expedition to Peru to aid local communities through transformational projects in many different areas. 54% of Peru's rural communities live below the poverty line on under a $1 per day. 33% of under 15's are in employment to support their families rather than getting the education they deserve. 18% of rural Peruvians are malnourished and lacking fresh fruit and vegetables. I have volunteered for this trip to help provide a better quality of life for these communities and leave them with sustainable, long-term solutions to the problems they currently encounter.

For example, I will be building classrooms/kindergartens; constructing community housing from local materials; improving local healthcare and sanitation through better amenities and creating sustainable livelihoods by digging irrigation and replanting indigenous plants. After 3 weeks of hard work, the expedition culminates in a 5-day trek following the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu

With your help, I will be able to undertake this expedition and benefit these communities. It will be a fantastic experience for me also, and one that will undoubtedly prove life-changing -not only for me, but the locals in Peru also.

Thank you so much for all the support for our Snowdon climb yesterday - your generosity has been absolutely amazing and we raised a total of £585 for the event! This puts my total figure to £2,100 which is incredible and puts me at 47% of my total figure! Thank you all so much - I am so appreciative and looking forward already to my next event.

Preparing for the next phase of fund-raising for Owen's Peru expedition - climbing Snowdon and Scafell Pike during May half-term. Please give what you can. He has so far raised £1,246 - which is just over 27% of the amount needed! A great effort so far, but a long way to go (in every sense!). Thank you to everyone in advance!

Thank you for your support for my 15-mile walk along the South Coast Path from Weymouth to Kimmeridge Bay. It was a tough day, with some really steep climbs and descents, but we walked our 15 miles in 6 hours 47 minutes! Thank you for all your help - the walk raised £391 which is fantastic and an amazing start. We did an afternoon's bag-packing 2 weeks ago at our local Tesco and raised a further £485 - so my total is now £1,140! A quarter of the way to my total! Thank you again - please keep the donations coming!! Spread the word!
