Story

On 8th October 2017, we will be running the Oxford Half Marathon in memory of our friend Ajvir, aiming to raise money and awareness for the Ajvir Singh Sandhu Leadership Foundation.

Initially we got caught up in the excitment of running the event, and signed up without really thinking about what we were commiting to! Neither of us are big runners so this is going to be a massive challenge for us both... However, one thing we knew for certain was that we wanted to use this opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause, and it only seemed fitting that we selected the Ajvir Singh Sandhu Leadership Foundation.

We both met Aj back in 2011 when we joined the University Air Squadron. As baby faced freshers, this was a little daunting, but we quickly settled in and it didn't take long to realise Aj was a natural leader.

After leaving Uni, Aj joined the Royal Air Force where he began training as a Fast Jet Pilot. Incredibly talented, he had a promising career ahead of him. Tragically, Aj's life was cut short last year when he lost his life in a plane crash alongside his friend and colleague Cameron Forster.

The Ajvir Singh Sandhu Leadership Foundation has been set up to reward, assist and encourage young people aged 11-21 who show signs of becoming successful future leaders. This will be achieved through a combination of financial aids, accolades and access to a support network. Ultimately the Foundation will help the talented young people of today, become the leaders of tomorrow. To find out more about the fantastic work being done in memory of Aj, please visit www.ajvirlf.com.

Please donate, show your support and help us to raise awareness for this incredible cause. With this, and the memory of Aj, we'll hopefully cross the finish line in one piece!

Thank you, Becky and Jane.
