Story

I work in Mental Health. I meet people from all sorts of walks of life and backgrounds who are experiencing distress.

As anyone reading this will know, sometimes trying to feel ok, better or even just a little bit less crap can be an uphill battle.

In my role, I also work with people who are unable to start this journey towards better well-being as the most basic of their needs are not being met. This is distress on another level.

These are people without places to stay, who have little money and little food, people unable to rely on friends or family. They include parents trying to care for children. These people have often lived through the events that we might see on the news and which are difficult to imagine.

Imagine trying to get help with your mental health when you haven't eaten and are not too sure where you will be sleeping.

I work alongside an organisation called PAFRAS. They do great work in providing Refugees and Asylum seekers in Leeds with humanitarian aid to to reduce the effects of poverty and destitution and help support them to transition into their new lives.

I am going to have a go at running 10K on the 20th May in aid of PAFRAS.

They are non-profit and any support you kindly donate will be given directly to them.

you can read more about their work here:

Thank you.
