I've raised £250 to purchase some Walkie-Talkies for Karanambu Lodge

Since the beginning, Karanambu has been a mainstay in Guyanese ecotourism and a leader in regional conservation. From its birth in the 1920s, it has attracted researchers, environmentalists, volunteers, and activists from around the world, and has helped to safeguard the unique biodiversity of the Rupununi, securing its untouched savannah, forests, and waterways for the animals that live there and for future generations.
Most famously, Karanambu was home to the pioneering conservation efforts of the McTurks, in particular Diane McTurk who dedicated her life to help rehabilitate 49 giant otters over a number of decades, ensuring that approximately half of them returned to the wild. Thanks to efforts such as this, the giant otters of the Rupununi have been steadily recovering in number and are now a common site among the waterways.
The Rupununi is one of the most biodiverse locations on the planet. Home to 500+ species of both fish and bird, as well as jaguars, giant ant eaters, giant otters, tapir, capybara, howler monkeys, and numerous reptiles (including the largest caiman and the green anaconda), it is vital that this region remains unspoiled and its habitats protected.
The crucial work of the guides and staff at Karanambu is reliant on income from ecotourism and via donations from supporters. To help assist the work done at the Lodge, we would greatly appreciate it if you provided support to help purchase a set of Walkie-Talkies for use on treks, explorations, and tours.
For the next three-months at least, Karanambu will be my home, and I would like to do as much as possible to help support the work of the people here. I have already sheltered from the bats in my roof, chased plate-sized frogs from my bathroom/bedroom, had to evict cockroaches and spiders, found a cat on the tarpaulin roof of my bathroom, and been bitten by all manner of creepy crawlies. The pre-dawn starts every morning have taken some getting used to, but life here has a way of intoxicating you, and you soon find yourself smiling at the thought of coffee and a 5am sunrise.
I would greatly appreciate any and all support you can give. And I look forward to presenting the guides at Karanambu with a collection of Walkie-Talkies.
Thank you ::)
