Story
The Show
Pagrav Dance Company (PDC), a not-for-profit organisation is committed to promoting Kathak and nurturing the next generation.
The various lockdowns and restrictions under the current circumstances have impacted our students emotionally, physically, and financially and it has been painful to see some of them struggle with the challenges brought on by the pandemic.
This has fuelled our motivation to support them further by doing what we do the best - sharing the joy of kathak dance.
We want to provide a spectacular performance opportunity supported by live musicians in July. This is their opportunity to showcase their talent to the world and we are seeking to raise money to help our students get back on stage.
The money generated will be used to pay towards the cost of the show, especially the wonderful musicians who will be supporting us. We believe that this opportunity would help our students greatly and give them and our audiences a spectacular night of Kathak performances to look forward to.
We are looking to raise £3,000 to help with this showcase. We are extremely grateful for all the support and sponsorship, big or small.
To show our gratitude towards your generosity, every sponsor will recieve a handwritten thank you note and performance photo.
Thank you and stay safe.

About Pagrav Dance Company
Pagrav Dance Company is an arts organisation founded in 2005 by Artistic Director and womxn of colour, Urja Desai Thakore. As well as creating and touring artistic projects nationally, we are dedicated to developing new talent, running a training school for 100 students every year in Milton Keynes and London.
Pagrav means 'the sound of feet'. Using Kathak (a form of Indian classical dance) as our tool, we develop:
New feet: by teaching, training and developing people in the art of Kathak, and offering sustained performing opportunities, we challenge the negative perceptions of creative careers within South Asian culture.
New sounds: by bringing non-traditional voices into the artistic process, experimenting with the movement vocabulary and speaking to themes that resonate with contemporary experiences, we challenge the way Kathak is represented and perceived as an artform.
New ground: by breaking away from the strict Guru-Shishya (teacher-pupil) dynamic and supporting emerging South Asian talent to further their careers, we challenge the cannon, leadership and working dynamics of the cultural sector.
Our vision is a UK where cultural careers and creativity is valued by South Asian communities, where Kathak influences and evolves with future generations of creatives, and the cultural sector is more democratic, accessible and representative of South Asian people.
