Story

Megan was diagnosed with familial adenomatous polyposis in 2013. Her father passed away from the same disease in January of 2013, leaving her mum to look after Meghan, Megan's two sisters and brother and her nephew. Later that year it was discovered Megan had FAP and a 15kg desmoid tumour that had burst in her bowel which resulted in her having a lot of her small bowel and part of her stomach removed. 2 years later it was discovered she had now developed 2 desmoid tumours. After her first chemotherapy Megan had an anaphylactic reaction which resulted in her chemotherapy course being changed. Megan's illness has now resulted in the removal of all of her bowel, her spleen, part of her stomach and she has a stomach drain inserted. 3 further tumours were found during the latest surgery and 4 of our Megan's 5 tumours were removed. Megan cannot eat any food as she has no stomach and receives all her nutrition through TPN. There is now nothing more that can be done for Megan medically so she has been moved to a hospice. We are looking to raise money to pay for Megan's funeral when the time comes that she is no longer with us as this will be a huge financial burden for her mother to bear alone after already burying her father.
