    Story

It is with Deep Sadness we have to report the passing of Paul, My Mr Wonderful, My Soul mate, My Peter Pan!!!..... What can I say about such a loving, Giving, Generous, Amazing, Talented, Hardworking, Devoted, Funny, Happy person. But he wasn't just My Mr Wonderful. As he was loved by so many others because of who he was and what he did. Arriving in Tamworth ( Staffordshire UK) in 1986 and then in 1997 having the most amazing good fortune of being allowed to live in the lock keepers Bottom Lock Cottage in Glascote village on the Coventry Canal.

Having been a DJ in Birmingham and its ice rink in his younger days and was asked to be one for his brothers 40th Birthday entertainment in 1987. And after so much fun enjoyed continued by giving to the local schools and community his brand of Disco fun. Then employment took the turn to create Entertainment with Music his full time Employment in 1990. The journey was so different to what was expected or could even have been dreamed of before this. Having a very happy and giving life in Tamworth the "Disco" became a very popular School Disco and Entertainment package for fundraisers, events, school fayres ( Batman at Green Acres School) Working to raise pta funds at Stoneydelph Juniors with Dave Gauder pulling a Fire Engine, Children in Need with Edwin Starr at Tamworth Services, Extra AM Road shows, All Family Events and Parties, Corporate Events, Round Table, Freemason , Rotary, Mayors Christmas parties and Castle Ground fundraising events, including being involved with the Hot Air Balloon Festivals that took place the list goes on... Early 1990’s while being the DJ at Belgrave Youth club discos, Mark Maybury from the School approached for help in putting together a school 4 week project with the Cracker Project of "Radio Cracker"!! And the response from Staff, pupils and the town was so amazing that Tamworth’s Arts Team at the Palace Media Centre ( now Corey’s bar) asked if it could be looked into creating a community radio station for the whole town to enjoy.. A reluctant vice chairman who had to take the reigns as the first chairman took ill. Paul took on the role, with gusto, enthusiasm and so much pride in the team that joined in to make it happen. And every single person involved equal in his eyes. And what a success it became even though at the time it devoured every minute of his day and some did not understand his enthusiasm, and how happy he was in recent years at being back involved with the now Radio Tamworth community radio station in Tamworth.

Then came "Balloons", from meeting a stall holder in a craft market in Birmingham That changed their lives!! ( the story is well documented) Many have stood and been in AWE and Amazed by the GIFT and the Sheer Talent he had for this craft. Especially when you see what he has done and created over the years, From bringing smiles to the faces of young and old with his balloon models Locally, at parties and for 10 years being “The Balloon Man” working at his beloved Drayton Manor Park. As well as being the Balloon man from the radio WM Competition “How many Puffs make a bang” with Malcolm Boyden seeing how many times he could puff air into a balloon from his machine before balloon popped in a competition. to name a few.

To his Large Balloon sculptures, all you can do is be amazed!. And the Extra Large Balloon Mazes for all to share at Tamworth Carnival on the Tennis courts of the castle grounds, as well as the Balloon Decorations at the Function Rooms of Tamworth for all events taking part in them. An Art in which He and Now Pam continue to do and Teach locally to people from all over the UK and beyond as Balloon Industry recognised (and Qualified) Teachers. Becoming Qualatex Certified balloon Artists in 1999, UK Large Balloon Scultpure Champions in 2001 and the only UK company to receive the Industry Award of Qualatex European Balloon Decoration company of the Year. As Well as winning Industry awards for their centrepieces and sculptures at UK Party Show and NABAS events. Working with Balloons all over the UK, parts of Europe and the USA

To others he is The primary school DJ, Party DJ, BATMAN!! (cant believe how that still is such a big thing locally, gosh did he have fun. Happily getting involved in So many local charities and events, too name a few: The work happily done with the Birmingham Children's Hospital (events and entertainment and at last birthdays he felt so privileged to do and be a part of those family lives and memories). Dressing the Hospital Front Entrance with balloon displays for Christmas for many years And hearing the whispers (the balloon man is here!) and supporting Young at Heart (heart children’s charity for over 25 years) the kidney unit and wards, and locally the amazing Poppyfield’s charity. Supporting St Giles Hospice with the Solstice walk and many staff and fundraising events , and Tamworths very own Tamworth Well being and Cancer Support Centre The list continues with many more local groups, people and events and all the parties we have been a part of locally.

Also the quiet family man, who loved his family, leaving a wife he adored , 2 Grown up Daughters and Son in laws and 2 beautiful young grandchildren he was so proud of too soon , who loved spending time with them, working on his garden walking, going to Drayton manor Park and cruising by narrow boat the canals of the Midlands as well as having holidays in the sun and spending time in his beloved since Childhood love of Weston Super Mare.

And this amazing man did it all with Genuine Grace, Love, Care, Fun And A big sense of Gratitude and love to the people who allowed it to take place.

His heart still continues to beat as we ask for Donations in his memory instead of flowers etc for his funeral, that can assist locally In Tamworth UK, yet to be decided, but which will be gratefully received by what ever donor receives it, believe me .. I have ideas and thoughts, but this at present depends on the generosity of others continuing in the name of this one amazing man sadly taken too soon by illness..

May I thank you in advance for your generosity at this time... Pam xx

31st March 2021, we await the ending of lockdown to be able to complete our full wishes in memory of Paul, at present this fund has allowed a small donation of 2 x Rugby Radio Clocks to Radio Tamworth as part of the studio refurbishment x

We were neighbours at Alvecote Stud for many years and Paul would often create something spectacular and hand it to my children. Sorry for your loss.
