Story
Pam is known to most by being an avid Red, barmaid at the Knowsley and for her wicked sense of humour and fun.
What most people don’t know is more personal. Pam is now and will be mostly reliant on a wheelchair for the rest of her life. At the moment, Pam is able to just about get around in her standard chair over short distances and for the odd hour here and there. But as her medical conditions get worse over time the ability to even stand is limited to making a cup of tea some days. Pam has always been an incredibly special, supportive person in my life, succeeding in being my best friend and surrogate mother figure rolled into one. But watching her mobility and heath deteriorate so rapidly, resulting in her independence being threatened is heart breaking. Due to a complete lack of funding available, Pam is at present unable to get an electric wheel chair she so desperately needs on days when things are particularly painful and just bending her wrists is enough to put off a quick trip to the shop. I decided that if Pam means this much to me, that inevitably she would to others too. So I have (with her reluctant permission haha) decided to ask our wider community for help to fund a new wheelchair. The chair Pam has chosen will be her ‘forever chair’ and will totally change her life. From the basics of not having to physically wheel around to the comfort and more practical design that will keep her more comfortable for longer periods. The chair is aptly named the ‘Pride i-Go’ folding electric powerchair. The cost of the wheelchair is £1889.00 but will need adaptations and shipping costs factored in, so I have rounded up to £2000 so if there are any funds remaining we can all go for a pint and watch her crashing it into things whilst getting used to it! So, if you can spare anything at all every single penny means that Pam gets closer to knowing that, no matter how restrictive her body becomes, she won't be confined to her home and still get out shopping, socialising and living life. Thank you. x
