Story

Parenting North East is a family support social enterprise based in Newcastle, but running sessions from Alnwick to Catterick. We are based around a sling library, but offer sessions from Positive Birth and Pregnancy Socials, to Fourth Trimester and social meets for parents to meet like minded parents and get support.

Since January 2015 we've had an office in Broadacre House in the centre of Newcastle, home to some 20 charities and social enterprises. Unfortunately, in July this year the buildings owners served notice on all of us as they wish to develop the building.

We have found a potential new home in one of the railway arches behind Times Square. The space is much bigger than our current office and will enable us to offer a much greater range of services to new parents.

We aim to create a family-friendly space, with comfy sofas, tea and coffee and toys, where parents can call in for sling, cloth nappy, and general parenting advice. With the help of some funding bids still pending, we aim to offer classes and meets to enable parents to make friends, get out of the house and feel more confident in their parenting.

The new space will also enable us to separate our other social enterprise - a workshop making slings, toys and other eco-parenting products separate from the space where we meet with parents, making it more practical and safer.

The funds we are aiming to raise are to cover the costs of moving - the deposit on the space, setting up of utilities etc and if there is surplus, to fit it out with comfy sofas, bright coloured rugs and other comforts.

Every little will help, even a couple of pounds, if you can spare it.

Please help us help more people.
