I've raised £2000 to Help launch Parkfield Equine Solutions, a charity using horsemanship interventions, to help young people and others with serious problems

Parkfield Equine Solutions is now officially a registered charity. Registered charity number 1182747 and will start offering courses very soon. Our Parkfield Ponies, Alice, Dream and Maisie, will be helping young people and other cohorts who are socially isolated or at risk of isolation. Please help the launch of this exciting new charity by donating money to buy essential equipment and to fund the first two places for those in need of immediate support. TheHorseCourse HQ and regional hubs are funded by many organisations including Big Lottery, Children in Need, Police and Crime Commissioners as well as many more. Our applications are being processed for ongoing and future funding, but most of these only fund participant places, not start up costs, which we desperately need to get going.
PES is Sussex home of TheHorseCourse, a world renowned charity using horsemanship to deliver intensive interventions to improve the lives of young people with serious problems such as ADHD, ASD, self harming, bullying, aggression, victims of bullying or abuse, risk taking behaviour, eating disorders, domestic violence, mental health problems, social isolation/not attending school, as well as other specific groups. We are excited to be bringing The Horse Course to Sussex to help the local community. These horsemanship courses have been shown to be highly effective - after doing the course over 80% of participants are less anxious (with 33% average improvement) ,have reduced problem behaviours, have improved attendance/engagement at school ,better relationships and increased self belief. Examples of research and evidence can be viewed on the website - this really works!
The Parkfield ponies, Alice, Dream and Maisie, have been specially trained to do this fantastic work. The £2000 will be used to fund places for two young people on the course that runs for 2 hours per day for 5 consecutive days and to buy equipment to run the courses. One of the priorities is to find a way of setting up a sheltered area so the courses can run all year round.
Any of you who have had the chance to work with horses and natural horsemanship will understand the impact of the "in the moment" feedback that the horses give. Just think how transformational it could be for a young person or adult with serious problems who has become disengaged or stuck with other therapy or counselling.
