In 2018, Partners for Progress was invited to attend a conference at Shree Jana Jyoti Secondary School, in the Lamjung district of Nepal, to discuss the creation of a new vocational college that would allow non-academic students the ability to learn vocational skills that would support their chosen career path. Local and regional government officials pledged £52,000 for the construction of the vocational school buildings and Partners for Progress, as the junior partner, agreed to fund the furnishings and equipment for the college. The first college building was finished last year and the second is well on its was to completion. Partners for Progress put £1,000 into the project last year and a further £1,000 this year. The college will teach students vocational skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrics and sustainable agriculture. Indeed two highly qualified agriculture teachers have already started teaching twenty-two students with great results. The college is a first of its kind in the local area and provides students from local secondary schools an alternative to academic learning. We are now attempting to raise a further £1,000 for specialised agronomy equipment that will support the students agricultural education.

With your support this new college can become a much needed regional hub for vocational training in Nepal and educate the next generation of sustainable agriculture practitioners to help Nepal meet the challenges of the 21st century.
