Story
Bismillahir-Rahmanir Raheem!
During my visit to Bangladesh, I witnessed many vulnerable women and their children living in makeshift houses, where their basic needs for shelter were not being met. Most of these houses are made with left over scraps which does not protect them during monsoon months. The heavy rainfall washes the mud away which makes up the foundation of the homes, strong winds causes damages and leaks within the homes creating no stability. Some houses are even missing doors, so they cannot feel any sense of security within their own homes. According to recent studies, an estimated 710,159 episodes of snake bites occured annually in rural Bangladesh, it is clear that these shelters are unsafe for human habitation.
Unfortunately, these women are in the absence of financial support and they have been working in other people’s houses for most of their lives, which has barely allowed them to feed their families.
Upon hearing and witnessing on how harshly these women and their families were living, it humbled me tremendously, thus I decided to begin a project called “From a Shelter to a Home”. This project aims to support widows and divorced women by building them a house, so they can reside in a safe and secure home.
Last year, I was given the pleasure of arranging the first house to be built for a lovely woman named Bali, who was extremely grateful for her new home. My target is to build two houses for two families this year, each house costing £1500.00. If you can spare a few pounds to support this project you will help protect a woman and her family by giving her a house that she and her children can call their own.
The next house is planned to be built in November 2018. Progress on the project will be regularly updated on this page with pictures. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, 100% of your donations will go towards the building of these homes and any fees incurred through this website will be paid by myself.
Thank you very much for your support

6 years agoWe are pleased to announce that due to all your support and compassionate generosity, we will be bringing the building works forward from November to this month. My husband will be travelling to Bangladesh in mid-July to initiate the works on Mosoda's house. This could not have been possible without all your donations! So, thank you all 😊
