Story

Mum died on the 2nd May 2023 from something called Multi System Atrophy - a really cruel disease we'd never heard of before now. Although she had been showing signs of problems for some time, we weren't aware of this diagnosis until a couple of weeks before we lost her.

From the moment she was admitted on Mother's Day to the day she died, we owe a massive gratitude to Ward 6 in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. From helping to figure out what was going on, giving us time with Mum in a side room, accommodating babies and dogs at any time of day or night, finding beds and a quiet room for us to stay with mum or be closer to her, endless cups of tea, biscuits and toast, lots and lots of time given to us explaining what was happening, telling us their own personal stories which in many ways helped us process our own grief, and of course the kindness and support they displayed when our hearts were breaking.

Although we're all broken at the moment, we're maybe a little less broken because of all they've done for us as a family. We would like to show our gratitude to them by raising some money at Mum's funeral to help them with some equipment they're trying to buy. We would much rather you all contribute to this cause than provide flowers or other gifts to us on the day.
