Story

As an American ex patriot I have watched recent events with horror. Seeing the country where I was born and grew up, and where my family live, be torn apart by hatred is heartbreaking and has left me feeling helpless.

My employers, Cisco, have given me a way to do something. From Chuck Robbins, our CEO:

Throughout history there have been moments when it's important for people to take a stand and act. I believe this is one of those moments...In the past week we've experienced events of immense significance in the fight against racism and discrimination...While we mourn the incomprehensible tragedy in Charlottesville, VA and watch protests erupt around the United States, it's critical that we remain focused on what's possible on the other side of this painful divide....Our greatest hope in shifting minds and healing hearts is our ability to engage in open, respectful dialogue...Cisco has established a new fund to fight racism and discrimination and we will match every dollar contributed by employees.

By raising money through this crowdfunding page I can make a lump sum donation to the fund on everyone's behalf and the total would then be matched, dollar for dollar, by Cisco.

The three organizations that will benefit from this fund are:

1. The Center for Social Inclusion (CSI). The CSI's mission is to catalyze communities, government, and other institutions to dismantle structural racial inequity and create equitable outcomes for all.

2. Public Allies . Public Allies' mission is to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. They are changing the face and practice of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating our conviction that everyone can lead, and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility, and work together.

3. Essential Partners, which fosters constructive conversations where conflicts and division are driven by differences in identity, beliefs, and values.

Thank you.
