Story

Our daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2021 at 3 years old. Our lives as we knew it changed forever at that moment. A steep learning curve for us all as we adjust daily to managing Type 1 diabetes. Throughout it all, I see my daughter's strength and resilience, she is our superhero as she continues to live her childhood to the max, always so happy and fun-loving while learning to live with diabetes. She is my inspiration, to run my first marathon.I see the challenges that she is truimps daily so I am attempting this personal challenge to raise funds for T1DCAT (Type 1 Diabetes children and teenagers).

We were introduced to T1DCAT by our amazng diabetes team in the Southern Trust. It was set up in 2018 by a group of parents, with children and teenagers with type 1 diabetes to support families and raise awareness of the condition. We receive great support from them as parents, and they have organised several events that have always put a smile on our daughter's face. Running my first marathon is also my way of saying thanks to T1DCAT for their support and hopefully with fundraising I can help other families with children and Teenagers with Type 1 diabetes.

I would be very grateful for your kind donations and these will most certainly motivate me to run pass that finish line. Thank you.

Please remember the 4 T's - Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, Thinner - the most common symptoms
