Story

I am going to ride a total of 500km during September 2024 to support 2 local charities. The rides will be mainly on the road, but could be on tracks and also on an indoor turbo if the weather gets too bad. I will use my Wahoo Roam to track my distances and ensure accuracy. Any indoor sessions will be recorded via Zwift.

I want to support two local charities to continue their important work in their communities.

Margate FC Community Trust run a homeless project along with the Thanet Rise team run a weekly drop-in session for the homeless community in Thanet. They can access a warm meal, a hot shower, facilities to wash and dry clothes and more importantly have access to professionals that can help them with various aspects of their lives.
The Trust also runs various other activities including walking football for men and women, football for visually impaired children and adults and is looking to expand the services on offer to the local community.

Kent Coast Volunteering operate across the Thanet, Dover and Folkestone & Hythe Districts. They support older people get to important appointments with their transport service, and also support other local charities by finding them volunteers. Volunteers are supported into placements that can increase confidence, improve mental health, help to develop new skills, develop social skills and even help them to find paid employment.
