Story
We're raising money to support our 'Song School' at Salford Cathedral.
As we anticipate the re-opening of the Cathedral in 2026 after a period of major restoration, our choirs have been continuing to develop their musicianship skills and have been busy learning new Cathedral-style repertoire fit for a newly restored building.
To enable us to further develop this work, we are raising funds towards a new piano for the 'Song School' which would be used for rehearsals, music tuition and informal performances.
We have assembled a team of runners from the Cathedral to run at Media City on Thursday 24 April. They include priests, choir members, parents, staff, and the congregation – from experienced parkrunners to those doing couch-5k.
Our runners include:
Priests - Fr Frankie Mulgrew
Girls’ Choir – Tamara Adesugba, Shalom-Francesca Tifu
Cambiata Boys’ Choir – Tobi Adesugba, Raymond Xie
Cathedral Choir – Emily Crichton, Rebecca Fenwick, Catherine Lark, Dea McGonigal, Theo Murphy-Jelley, Claire Spencer
Choir Parents – Kemi Adesugba, Patrick Tifu, Veronica Tifu
Congregation – Eduardo Bordonaba, May Diaz De Rienzo
Staff – Maura Pasini, Alex Patterson

The running doesn't stop there! Our Cathedral Director of Music, Alex Patterson, will be running the Media City 10k again throughout the summer on Thursdays 26 June, 31 July, 28 August, and 25 September, ahead of running the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 28 September. This 'PatterPlod' aims to match the distance run collectively by our Cathedral Runners on the 24 April.
Your support at this time will help us continue maximising the opportunities for the children and young people of Salford to fulfil their musical potential as part of our Cathedral Music Foundation.
