    Just Giving Update

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Billingham Synthonia. We are humbled and delighted with the generosity of people all over the country, especially where mentions of other teams are concerned, and we’ve even had donations from Australia, Dubai and USA. Thank you to our fellow clubs in the Northern League for their support in getting our message out there on Social Media.

With the help of our campaign and support from BBC Radio Tees and Look North we have secured funding for the remainder of the season from Queensway Dental Clinic and Laboratory in Billingham.

The amazing donations on our Just Giving page will now go towards our new home ground development which will be the the next step on the road to get this great club back to where it belongs.

We are not out of the woods yet but very much on our way to securing funding going into our Centenary Year.

    Thank you everybody.

    Billingham Synthonia Committee

Currently positioned 8th in the EBAC Northern League and having navigated Coronavirus and low level gate numbers, we have unfortunately lost our main Sponsor due to unforeseen circumstances. We are desperately seeking funding to see out the remainder of the season and challenge for promotion to EBAC Northern League Division 1, which is a realistic option for us.

Once funding secured we will be looking for longer term sponsorship to keep our club, footballers, coaching staff and fans going into our Centenary year in 2023.

    Billingham Synthonia FC brief History:

Billingham Synthonia FC formed in 1923, first contesting the South Bank & District League before joining the Teesside League. After the second world war Synthonia re-joined the Teesside league for a last term before joining the Northern League in 1945-46.

The clubs first ground was on the south side of Belasis Lane, part of ICI's original sporting complex. They moved across the road to a new Belasis Lane ground in 1945. A notable first in football occurred on this ground in 1952, when Synthonia took on an RAF team in the first floodlit game in northern England and the first amateur team to play under lights. They left the Belasis Lane ground in 1958, moving to Central Avenue with a 2,000 capacity cantilever stand (the longest in the country at the time). The first game against Bishop Auckland ended 2-2 with an attendance of 4,200, the club's highest. Synthonia left their Central Avenue ground at the end of the 2016-17 season and currently play at the Norton Sports Complex.

The 2017-18 season saw the club struggle in division 1 both on and off the pitch with a young squad and facing uncertainty over the club's future and were relegated back to division 2 as well as devastatingly leaving the Central Avenue Stadium.

Jamie Pollock took over as Chairman in 2018 and the club were on the verge of returning to Division 1 before the coronavirus pandemic cut short the 2019-20 season. The foundations are in place to secure the club's future with Synthonia now having a development team all competing in the 2020-21 season.
