    Story

I hope you can take a minute to read this story about our Emma, our work colleague and very good friend.

Emma is 36 years old, a wife and a mum of 2 gorgeous kiddies Lucy, 10 and Jack 8. Full of life, fun to be around and an all around amazing person, she has been apart of our Driveme team for nearly 10 years.

In December, 5 days before Christmas, Emma had a crash in her car. She was fine, luckily we all thought, maybe a bit of whiplash. On New Years Day Emma had a stroke, caused by a blood clot in her neck brought on by the impact of the car accident. She was rushed to Arrowe Park hospital for an emergency operation, which didn't go as planned. She was then rushed to a hospital in Manchester where she remained unconscious, but stable for 3 weeks.

When waking up after 3 weeks, it was discovered that Emma had lost use of her right side, and was unable to speak. She was moved back to the Wirral, and is currently in Clatterbridge hospital where she is receiving care, physio and speech therapy. She is very positive and in good spirit, considering. She has made slight improvements but not much, saying the odd word, and trying to communicate by writing with her left hand, but even then her brain is confusing things and she may not write the word she is thinking.

Now, the reason I am writing this for you all to read is that our amazing NHS has been brilliant, however as we all know the funding isn't great and we think she would come on much better with private physio and speech sessions. We are reaching out to you, to see if you can spare as much or as little as possible so that Emma can receive some private sessions to help with her rehabilitation and get her back to her normal self sooner, rather than later so she can get back to being a mummy to her kids.

We are trying to raise money so Emma can have special speech therapy which is currently costing the family around £300 per week!

Lots of you lovely generous people helped and gave donations which we raised over £6700 so Emma could have private speech therapy! Well here is the result of our generosity!!!! Emma and me have spoken about other fund raising events as the money raised will not last much longer but I am sure you can appreciate this is difficult with the current covid situation but fingers crossed we will be able to plan better next year!

Update on Emma Roberts Yesterday was the first time I have seen Emma prior to lockdown in March and it’s great to report that she is in very good spirits! She is now having Physio albeit only once a week and continues to have her speech therapy 3 times a week from the money we raised through the just giving page! Emma said she hopes that she will have enough funds to carry on the speech therapy until November Any more donations will help secure more therapy for Emma!
