On 23rd August 2025, #TeamLenny take on the Ride for Lee & Yorkshire MND, kindly sponsored by the Wetherby Whaler. Our challenge starts at the Guiseley Wetherby Whaler, cycling on to the Whalers in Pudsey, Denby Dale, Outwood, Tadcaster, York, and Wetherby before finishing back at Guiseley; a distance of approximately 100 miles.

MND (Motor Neurone Disease) affects the nerves known as motor neurones. With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles which can affect how those living with MND walk, talk, eat & drink and breathe.

It's not known what causes MND but the impact on everyday life for those living with MND is devasting. There is currently no cure.

Lee (Lenny) Brannan was diagnosed with MND, in January 2025. Devastatingly, Lee’s already had to give up work due to the impact of this cruel illness.

Lee’s a proud family man, a fantastic mate who is loved by all who know him, not least the countless junior footballers he’s given up his free time to coach over the years. Lee has an irrepressible sense of humour and always has a smile on his face. His immense courage is an inspiration to us all.

We’re taking on this challenge to:

Continue to raise awareness of MND.

Raise money to help with the costs of the equipment and adaptations Lee needs to overcome the challenges of his day-to-day life.

Raise money for the West Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales & York Branches who support local people living with MND.

Your sponsorship, no matter how big or small is very much appreciated. 70% of all donations, including those raised by the Wetherby Whaler, will go to Lee. 30% will go to the MND Association’s West Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales and York Branches to support local people living with MND.
