Story
The Malawi Projects group are going back to Malawi again this year. We are continuing to fundraise for Tilinanu Orphanage to help provide shelter, food & education for the girls in the orphanage and also fund more of the outreach programmes that the orphanage provides. We have been overwhelmed with the donations we have received in the past from businesses, schools, other charity groups, individuals, etc. and once again are asking for your support to help those less fortunate than ourselves become educated and empowered to raise themselves up from poverty and famine to help them become self-sufficient.
I will be running some charity events such as pub quizes/coffee mornings and will be doing a mud run at the end of April, so if you wish to help, please come along or donate through this page. I will be posting on Facebook when these are taking place.
To date we have helped so many people in Malawi that it’s quite staggering. Last year alone we were able to help so many projects and just some of them included being able to provide the Orphanage and Technical College with a reliable source of electricity in the form of solar panels, which we were privileged to help install and see turned on for the first time. Motorbikes were provided for the staff to be able to have transport to the outlying villages and schools where many of their projects are. We were able to replace the ambulance used for medical outreach after it broke down, help fund those medical programmes and bought a 37 acre farm to help the orphanage become self-sufficient as well as providing employment for workers and a source of food for those in the surrounding community who have none.
We realise that although we may be doing the fundraising work, none of this would be possible without the generosity and support of the people who donate to us, whether it be in the form of money from our car boot sales, street collections, events or whether it’s from donating old clothes/bedding/shoes, furniture, toys, etc. and for this we are extremely grateful. Each of us has committed to raising our own personal donations as well as contributing to the overall funding of these projects and we would be grateful for any contribution that you can make.
