Story

ORBY VILLAGE HALL PROJECT

Orby is situated 10 miles out of Skegness Lincolnshire a small village of some 220 souls. The village hall stands in the centre of the village on land donated by the then vicar in 1929. A corrugated tin hut which serves as a community centre, and function venue. A village hall committee was formed in 2008 and has since strives to maintain the hall and ensure continued use. The hall consists of a single room which can accommodate about 60 persons, unfortunately there are no storage facilities and the ladies and gents toilets open straight into the hall. The present kitchen is the small lean to as shown in photograph. The project is to provide an extension at the rear to house a new kitchen a vanity lobby for the toilets ie to get rid of the modesty curtain and a disabled toilet. The building is constructed of a wooden frame covered with tin sheeting, planning permission has been obtained. The exsisting kitchen will then be used as a store room for tables and chairs which at present have to be removed when the hall is fully used.

Funding is difficult but over 3 years the committee have accumulated about £5000 towards the project hpoefully we can raise enough funds to complete the project early next year.
