Story
Paris, who is the nine year old daughter of a very close family friend, was diagnosed in August 2018 with Synovial Sarcoma which is a rare form of tissue cancer.
As you can imagine, Paris and her family's lives have been turned upside down by this news. Cancer is commonly associated with adults not children and so it has been such a shock to everyone.
I'm running the Yorkshire Marathon on Sunday 14th October 2018 and I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to fund raise for Paris. In these types of situations, you feel incredibly helpless and so to help Paris and her family financially would be brilliant.
Paris is currently undergoing chemotherapy but the next step is unclear at this stage. The consultants have suggested proton therapy in America or Germany or possibly amputating Paris' arm.
Although we remain extremely positive, this will be life changing. As the treatment is unknown at the moment, we are unsure what the money raised will go towards but one thing is for sure, it would be of great support.
Paris is beautiful inside and out... Her smile can light up a room! She is kind, caring and one of life's joys! If you could donate to Paris, it would be very much appreciated. When possible, I will update this page with Paris' progress.
Thank you for your fantastic support.
Update on 30/08/18
After two sessions of chemotherapy, the consultants decided to stop the treatment. Sadly, it was not effective as the cancer had grown. Due to the complexity of the cancer and the area in which it is in, they have said that the only option would be to amputate Paris’ arm.
Paris’ family have been preparing her for the operation over the past few weeks. When Helen, Paris’ Mum, shared this news with us, she said that Paris cried for a few minutes and then asked to do a climbing wall because it would be something which she wouldn’t be able to do soon. This sentence alone proves how incredibly brave Paris is and what an amazing attitude she has to such a life changing situation.
Thank you for your wonderful support so far - We have been left speechless by your generosity! As you will see, we have raised our target from £200 to £1,000 which is absolutely brilliant!

6 years agoThe JustGiving page will be closing in the next few days and so we just wanted to let you know that we will have raised in excess of £2,000 for Paris! It's still very early days in Paris' recovery but the family think the money will go towards a prosthetic arm and an extra special trip to Disneyland! Thanks again - You've been extremely generous!

I have been fund raising for many years for numerous charities and causes but when I heard about Paris' condition, it effected me deeply and wanted to use my marathon to raise money for such a good cause. The pain from my run will be nothing like what Paris is going through!
