Story
I'm raising £40,000
One very important reason.
Starting Thursday January 1st 2026 I’m running for something bigger than myself.
I’ll be setting off from Plymouth Hoe Promenade 10am (cafe end)to begin a challenge that means more to me than I can put into words:
100 Half marathons in 50 weeks.
I’ll be running to raise money for the Claire Chick Nursing Fund —
.
The fund supports nursing students who are facing personal hardship, DV and financial difficulties, and also provides travel bursaries per year so students can attend the ENNE European Nursing Networking conferences that Claire played a huge part in helping to create, support and also attended, taking various groups of nursing students yearly to ensure that all nursing students — regardless of background or circumstance — could make the most of their education and go on to make a real difference in our communities.
Claire believed fiercely in the difference nurses make in the world — just as she did herself — and we know she would be incredibly proud to see this work continue in her name.
So this challenge is about more than running.
It’s about carrying forward Claire’s legacy, energy, values, and belief in people — mile by mile, week by week.
For anyone who’s thinking of starting running from scratch and build up slowly but surely over 6-12 months, anyone who enjoys a gentle plod, or else fancies a weekly run, or even walk, please keep your eyes peeled and come and join the ever-growing CTT group. Everyone is welcome.
Join me at any point this year.
My aim is simple: to raise a huge amount in a way that Claire’s energy would feel proud of and also to support what she dedicated her life to.
This isn’t just a run — it’s a movement, a memory, a promise and a legacy
Take care 💚💚💚💛💛💛
