Story
On 15th June I, along with 4 friends will be undertaking the Coast to Coast (C2C) biking challenge, to raise money for my nephew Tom Fisher and Alex Hughes to support their trips to Nepal and South Africa where they will participate in a number of community projects.
The C2C challenge is a 143 mile challenge over three days biking from Whitehaven to Tynemouth travelling over some very hilly terrain, including Hartside at over 1,900 feet, the highest point as well as the climb out of Garrigill at 22% gradient. I somehow managed to complete this 3 years ago though this was when I had undertaken other hiking challenges within the previous year. I haven't learned my lesson as I've agreed to do it again when I haven't done much exercise since.
My nephew Tom Fisher is will be embarking on a month-long trip to Nepal in July 2019 where he will be taking part in community projects supporting the building of communal facilities like schools. He needs to raise £4,000 to allow him to go. He is currently saving from his own earnings from refereeing junior football matches and assisting with junior cricket coaching.
Alex Hughes from our village, has been chosen to join Project Gateway in South Africa this July, where she will participate in a range of community development projects, helping people in crisis, providing care, education and empowerment to those in need. She is looking to raise £2,000 to fund her trip.
I am looking to raise at least £200 which I will split equally between the two of them.
I would be very grateful if you could support these two youngsters on what I'm sure will be life changing and very worthy causes. Any donations are much appreciated.
