Story
On the 3rd of May Lurgan man Ivan Stringer will begin an epic solo challenge to run the 780 km Camino Frances in just 14 days. Ivan will be running 40 miles a day - that's a marathon and a half!! Doing the full historic Camino Frances route, also known as the Way of St James, will see Ivan set off from St Jean Pied de Port in France in the foothills of the Pyrenees and finishing in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This trip is fully self supported with all expenses being paid by Ivan and all donations going 100% to abc autism support As an experienced ultra runner Ivan is a dangerous man to know and has talked many of his friends into their own crazy challenges. He loves pushing people outside their comfort zone to achieve things they thought they never could. Leading by example Ivan picked this challenge as something that's possible but very difficult and with no guarantee of success. Ivan said "it's great to push yourself, it's great to test yourself and I can't wait to get started. All of your support and the thought of the good that the group will do with the money raised will get me through the tough spots."
Mention running the 107 miles from Dublin to Belfast on the first of April and you'd be forgiven for thinking it was an April fools wind up! It's no joking matter though as Lurgan man Paul Silcock is going to be doing just that just 2 weeks before he flys to manchester to run to liverpool with running partner jaclyn Murray in another 50 mile race. ." Paul's run is from the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin to The Crown Bar in Belfast and mostly follows the NEW and A1 under the watchful eye of coach ivan Stringer .
Ivan and Paul are both members of Craigavon lakers running club
