Story

I’m raising as much money as I can, to help and enhance the recovery journey, for stroke patient’s at the George Elliot hospital, Nuneaton.

My plan for retirement didn't include a stroke, however god bless the NHS and, those lovely, very special and caring people, who all came into my life, 2 years ago.

Stroke patient's are labour intensive, and this exceptional team, led by Matron Nina, ward Sisters Rachel and Mary, are available and on display 24hrs a day. Every carer, auxiliary, cleaner, student and clinician made a positive difference, to the lives of patient’s they care and nurse. They made us laugh, as we took on daunting challenges of the simplest of tasks, they inspired us, told us to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and perhaps more importantly, gave us hope for the future.

Tebbs (aka tigger) visiting last Christmas with a box of goodies.

The wards dedicated and brilliant physio therapy specialist's, would use the money to buy the games and apparatus, that will enhance the patients recovery experience, improving speech and language, cognitive coordination, dexterity and mobility.

My challenge is to climb the Sydney Harbour bridge on January 4th 2026 (I'm spending my hard earned pension visiting my son in his new home down-under) subject to a mobility/fitness assessment by the bridge safety team. I keep telling my left leg and foot its going to be easy...it's only 1,364 steps to the top. I want to give hope and show other stroke survivors what perhaps could be achieved, post stroke. My wife and best friend Laina, has agreed to do it with me, giving me the best chance of success.
