Story

Following the horrendous recent incident at Treharris Athletic Western’s last 1st Team games a week ago we were all deeply upset to learn that Paulo Maldini Alves suffered extremely serious injuries. Following 5 days in hospital, Maldini underwent surgery for a fractured jaw, fractured cheekbone, fractured eye socket, broken teeth and a dent in his temple. We’re relieved and pleased to say he is now out of hospital and whilst in a lot of pain he has got 3 plates in his head which will be monitored for a long time.

Whilst the physical injuries we hope will heal we know emotionally this has been really tough for Maldini and his family back home in Cape Verde. Nobody should go to play a game of football and leave the pitch with such injuries, which have resulted in him having to miss work and he’ll be unable to for some time.

Having only recently started a new job Maldini has no income until he is able to return and so as a club we are looking to raise what we can to get him through this festive period until he is able to return.

If you could spare anything to help this young man whilst he recovers from his injuries, please, please donate no matter how small the value – he really does need every penny at the moment.

Get well soon Maldini – all of us and our friends at Treharris Athletic Western are supporting you all the way.
