I had the chance to visit the SPCA in Gweru during a wildlife project in the area and saw first-hand what little resources are available to this operation. They lack virtually everything and have around 50 animals to care for at the moment, mainly dogs and cats, but also donkeys, chickens and even a cow.
They urgently need food for the animals, medication for veterinary healthcare but are in an area with high unemployment, which means that the donations they rely on are few and far between. They rely entirely on community support.
With funding, they could ensure better veterinary care for the animals until they can get rehomed, as well as proper nutrition for them. At present, dogs do not even get meat every day.
