Story
We are taking on a charity bike ride through Costa Rica in October in aid of Women v Cancer.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for Women v Cancer by taking on a gruelling bicycle ride through the tropical rainforests of Costa Rica. I will be cycling 450km coast to coast over 6 days and apparently it is very hilly so I am sure I will have to give it my all which I am more than happy to do as this will be minor compared to what people who have had or are going through cancer have had to endure and that will be my push to get me to the final day.
Pauline’s Story:
“Women in Cancer is a charity particularly close to my heart.
In 2015, I developed skin cancer on my nose. Fortunately, it was successfully removed, but I have to live with scar, which reminds me how lucky I am every time I look in the mirror. This was a relatively minor surgery, but it had a profound effect on my life. Thankfully, I had the support of my family and friends, and I have learned to live with my scar, knowing that some people are not so fortunate.
My father is also a survivor (although he hates that word) ……………………..
My beautiful Aunt Mary was taken away from us in due to breast cancer when I was only 11, and it was heartbreaking for us all to lose such a dear family member to this dreadful disease.
Times have changed and so much more can now be done and my dear friend Caroline is living proof of this. Having battled breast cancer just last year and finally just this month (September 2019) having her reconstruction, she is looking fab and has been such an inspiration to many. She lost her hair but never once did I see her let it get to her although there must have been times but she is such a trouper and she has beaten the dreaded disease.
There are many families suffering in the world today as a result of cancer, so I want to do my very best to help in any way i can.
If you wish to donate to our page, we would be most grateful. If all our friends and colleagues donated just £5.00 each, we would be well on our way to reaching our target of ………..
