Story
On Friday 26th of June 2020, a major incident occurred within Glasgow City Centre, as a result of which 6 individuals were stabbed and seriously injured. They all required emergency treatment at the scene, and in A&E. One of these individuals was PC David Whyte, who attended along with other officers from Police Scotland as first responders. PC Whyte ran into the building with his colleagues, in order to prevent further injuries, and to try and save lifes. As a result of this, he sustained several stab wounds while trying to stop the assailant. PC Whyte required emergency treatment at the scene, and surgery in Hospital afterwards, in order to save his life. He now faces a long and difficult recovery, as he works back to fitness, and returning to the job that he is dedicated to.
We are looking to raise funds to not only support David as he recovers, but to also recognise all of the first responders, who undoubtedly saved lives that day through their own skill, bravery and commitment.
